Is your artwork ready for DTF printing?

A strong print starts with a strong file. This free checker helps identify common problems before you order, including insufficient pixel dimensions, artwork that may be too large at 300 DPI, and files without transparent areas.

The results are a useful guide, not final approval. Effects such as very fine lines, small text, semi-transparent pixels, colour accuracy and unwanted background remnants still need visual checking at the final print size.

View the approximate maximum physical size your artwork can print at 300 DPI without enlarging it.

Transparency

Check whether the image contains transparent pixels. JPG files cannot contain transparent backgrounds.

Understanding 300 DPI print size

The checker divides your image pixels by 300 to estimate a high-resolution print size. This does not change or improve the original artwork.

Important: a file labelled “300 DPI” is not automatically suitable. Its pixel dimensions must also support the physical size you want to print.

Common artwork problems

Blurry or pixelated files

Small logos, screenshots and images saved from social media are often compressed. Enlarging them does not restore missing detail.

Unwanted backgrounds

A white background is not the same as transparency. If it remains in the artwork, it may be printed as part of the transfer.

Incorrect physical sizing

Some design programs export artwork at unexpected dimensions. Always confirm the final centimetre size inside the gang sheet creator.

Tiny text and fine lines

Details that look clear while zoomed in may be difficult to print, press or read at the final garment size.

Transparent or faded edges

Soft shadows and semi-transparent pixels can produce a different result on a garment than they do against a screen.

RGB screen colour differences

Screens emit light while printed transfers reflect it, so exact screen-to-print colour matching cannot be guaranteed.

What is the best file format for DTF printing?

A high-resolution PNG with transparency is usually best for raster artwork. DTFX can also accept suitable PDF and Adobe Illustrator files. Supply artwork at the correct final size and outline fonts where appropriate.
