Description
3rd Defibrillator Pub to Pub Walk
Join us for the 3rd Defibrillator Pub to Pub Walk, continuing Lesley Ann Baker’s Legacy and helping raise support for a 24/7 community defibrillator in every village in Washington.
Lesley played a huge part in helping secure a number of these life-saving pieces of equipment for many areas, including several local pubs. With the support of Rotary Washington Forge and Rotary North East, she achieved so much before sadly passing away in 2022.
Our first Defibrillator Walk took place in October 2022, followed by another fantastic event in June 2023. On both occasions, we had an amazing turnout, with over 100 people joining throughout the day. We’re hoping for another brilliant turnout this June, along with some good weather.
As well as continuing Lesley’s memory and legacy, this event is also about raising awareness of where portable defibrillators are located across Washington, which ones are available 24 hours a day, and just how important they are in saving lives now and in the future.
The day also helps support our local pubs by bringing in some much-needed trade, both on the day itself and beyond. Last year, many of us completed the full 10-mile route, and it would be great to lace up our walking shoes once again, enjoy some exercise, and spend time meeting and chatting with others along the way.
Starting Point
All starters will meet at the Victoria Inn, Columbia in the morning for bacon sandwiches and refreshments before setting off to the first pub.
You can begin there or join the walk at any point during the day, and you can also finish wherever suits you. Last year, nearly all of us completed the full route and finished back at the Victoria Inn to round off the day together.
How to Take Part
If you’d like to join us on 15th June, please click “Going” on the event page or send a message so we can give the pubs an idea of numbers and help them prepare for the day.
Please feel free to share the event — the more, the merrier.
More information will be posted here as the event gets closer. If you have any questions, just get in touch.
