Upload More Artwork Formats

The new builder supports a much wider range of artwork formats, including:

• PNG
• JPG and JPEG
• WebP
• SVG
• PDF
• PDF-compatible Adobe Illustrator files

Transparent PNG artwork will normally produce the best and most predictable DTF printing results.

If an older Illustrator file cannot be opened, the builder will explain how to resave it as a PDF-compatible AI, PDF, SVG or PNG file.

Improved Background Removal

You can now remove unwanted backgrounds without leaving the gangsheet builder.

The updated background-removal tools include:

• One-click smart background removal
• Instant white and light-background removal
• AI removal for more complicated backgrounds
• Logo, Photo and Fine Detail edge presets
• White-halo cleanup
• Adjustable edge feathering
• Full-resolution Magic Wand
• Erase and Restore brushes
• Before-and-after checking
• Restore Original option

After removing a background, the builder can automatically trim the transparent empty space surrounding the design. This helps every design fit more efficiently onto the gangsheet.

Automatic Artwork Trimming

The Auto Trim tool detects unused transparent space around an uploaded design and removes it without reducing the artwork quality.

This is particularly useful for files containing a large transparent canvas around a small logo or design.

Automatic trimming can also run immediately after background removal, saving you an additional editing step.

Create an Exact Number of Copies

Need 20, 50 or even 80 copies of the same design?

Enter the exact quantity required and let the builder create the copies for you. You can choose whether to:

• Replace existing copies
• Add more copies to the current sheet
• Rotate designs when this saves space
• Repack the sheet automatically

This is much quicker than repeatedly pressing the duplicate button.

Smarter Gangsheet Packing

The Smart Pack tool automatically rearranges your designs to use the available printing space more efficiently.

It considers the size of each design, your selected gap and whether rotating the artwork will allow more copies to fit.

The builder can also recommend whether a 1-metre or 2-metre gangsheet would be more suitable.

Improved Mobile Controls

The gangsheet builder has been redesigned to work more comfortably on mobile devices.

Mobile improvements include:

• Fit Width viewing
• Fit Sheet viewing
• Actual Size viewing
• Pinch-to-zoom support
• Easier canvas movement
• Larger mobile controls
• Quick Upload, Background Removal, Copies, Undo and Export buttons
• Direct access to background-refinement tools

You can now build and edit a gangsheet without needing a desktop computer.

Change the Canvas Preview Colour

The chequered canvas is used to show that the gangsheet background is transparent.

You can now change the canvas preview to:

• Chequered
• White
• Black
• Grey
• A custom colour

This only changes the on-screen preview. It does not add a background to the exported PNG.

Changing the preview colour is useful when checking white artwork or looking for unwanted edges around a design.

Final Artwork Checks

Before creating the finished print file, the builder performs a final preflight check.

It checks for:

• Low-resolution artwork
• Designs outside the printable sheet
• Invisible or empty artwork
• Overlapping designs
• Incorrect placement
• Finished sheet dimensions
• Number of designs
• Estimated print-file size

If a serious problem is found, the builder asks you to correct it before continuing.

Export Progress

Large 300-DPI gangsheet files can take time to create, particularly on mobile phones.

The builder now displays:

• Export percentage
• Current export stage
• Rows processed
• Estimated time remaining
• Completion confirmation

Please keep the builder open while the print file is being created.

Download as PNG or PDF

After completing the final check, you can download:

• A transparent 300-DPI PNG
• A transparent-artwork PDF

The transparent PNG is the recommended file for DTFX orders.

PDF viewers normally display an empty transparent page as white. This does not mean that a white rectangle has been added to the printable artwork.

PDFs created by the newest builder also contain the original transparent PNG. If the PDF is uploaded back into the builder, the transparent artwork can be recovered instead of importing the viewer's white page.

No More Accidental Project-File Uploads

Editable project files and print files are now clearly separated.

The builder explains that:

• PNG is the recommended file to upload with an order
• PDF is available for compatible workflows
• DTFX project files are only for reopening and editing a gangsheet later
• Project and JSON files must not be uploaded as print artwork

This should significantly reduce customers accidentally sending an editable project or JSON file with their order.

Automatic Saving

The builder automatically saves your current project in the browser while you work.

If the page is accidentally refreshed or closed, your recent layout may be available to recover when you return.

You can also save an editable DTFX project file if you want to continue working on the gangsheet later.
